Easy And Effective Home Remedies For Frizzy Hair
I like books, flowers, makeup, and long walks. That pretty…
No matter what type of hair you have, how you like to style it, color it, or cut it, I think there’s one thing we can all unanimously agree on: no one wants frizzy hair. Frizzy hair means a bad hair day, and as we all know a bad hair day often means just a bad day in general.
Frizz is a result of our hair cuticle (the topmost layer of our hair) raising up due to the lack of moisture in our hair shaft, allowing for moisture to seep inside and making some of the strands curl up and away from the rest of your it.
There are several reasons our hair might be frizzing up, starting from genetics, as curly haired people tend to have drier, and therefore frizzier hair, to the humidity in the air, to damage.

1. Argan Oil
Argan oil (also referred to as Moroccan oil) is often deemed a miracle worker when it comes to treating dry, damaged or frizzy hair due to its abundance of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and Vitamins A, C, and E.
How to use it?
Hot Oil Treatment
Heat the argan oil in a double boiler. Start off with clean, damp hair (not soaking), and with your fingers start massaging the oil in your scalp and distributing it evenly through your hair. Then, heat up a towel and gently wrap your hair with it. Let your hair sit like that for about 20 minutes before you wash and rinse it off.
2. Avocado
Since frizzy hair comes as a result of a lack of moisture, the monounsaturated fatty acids that avocados contain work in adding natural hydration to your locks. Avocados are also rich in protein, Vitamin B, and Vitamin E all of which can repair damaged hair and help it grow healthy, shiny, strong, and frizz-free.
How to use it?
Avocado & Olive Oil Mask
While avocado has enough hydrating benefits of its own, adding another boost of hydration through olive oil will work wonders for frizzy hair. Simply mash an avocado and add about one tablespoon of olive oil (you can also use peppermint oil), and mix them well together.
Use this mask as a conditioner right after you shampoo your hair. Leave the mask on for about half an hour before rinsing it off thoroughly with water.
Avocado & Yogurt Mask
Mash an avocado and mix it with one cup of yogurt until it’s a paste, then apply it to your hair and leave it on for about 40 minutes. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water.
Added to the benefits of the avocado, yogurt is rich in proteins and lactic acid which nourish dry and damaged hair, while simultaneously cleaning and conditioning it as well as your scalp.
Make sure, in both cases, that the avocado is ripe otherwise it won’t mash as well and will be harder to wash off.
3. Honey
Honey is a natural humectant, which means it pulls moisture from the air and into your hair, supplying it with the hydration it needs. It’s also an emollient, meaning it smooths and softens the cuticle, making your hair shinier and smoother, as well as rich in enzymatic and antioxidant properties to help with a healthier scalp.
How to use it?
Diluted Honey Rinse
Just mix two tablespoons of honey with two cups of warm water and distribute it through your hair and scalp. Leave it for thirty minutes before you shampoo and condition as usual.
Yogurt & Honey Hair Mask
Mix 1/4 cup of yogurt, with two tablespoons of honey, and one tablespoon of argan oil until they have a creamy consistency. Apply it to your hair and scalp and leave it for 30-40 minutes before rinsing it off and shampooing and conditioning as usual.
4. Banana
Not only are bananas rich in potassium, calcium, and carbohydrates, but they also contain natural oils and Vitamins B and C. Bananas can help hydrate dry hair, provide them with nourishment, and give your hair more elasticity which will keep the hair shaft from breaking or chipping off.
How to use it?
Banana, Olive Oil & Yogurt Mask
Mash up a banana and mix it with 1/4 of yogurt and one tablespoon of olive oil. Apply it through your hair and leave it on for about thirty minutes before you rinse and shampoo and condition as usual.
Banana, Honey, & Coconut Oil
Mix a mashed banana with two teaspoons of honey and about 4-5 tablespoons of coconut oil until it’s a paste. Apply it to your hair and scalp and leave it for about 25-30 minutes before you rinse it off and shampoo and condition as usual.
Make sure the bananas are ripe.

Egg & Argan Oil Mask
Whisk an egg and mix in 1-2 tablespoons of argan oil. Apply it to your hair and scalp and leave it on for about 40 minutes before you rinse and wash.
6. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a miracle worker when it comes to giving us shiny hair. It contains potassium, alpha hydroxy and Vitamins B and C, as well as acetic acid which helps maintain your hair’s natural pH levels and close the raised hair cuticles, leading to shinier hair.
The Alpha hydroxy exfoliates the scalp, getting rid of dead skin and the anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties of apple cider vinegar will give you an overall healthier scalp and hair.
How to use it?
Dilute 2-4 spoons of apple cider vinegar in 16 oz of water. Apply it thoroughly to your hair after you’ve already shampooed and rinsed, leave it on for about two minutes and then rinse it with lukewarm water.
If you’re worried about the smell, don’t be. It’ll be gone when your hair dries.
