Emily Ratajkowski’s Belly Button Has Sparked A New Bizarre Plastic Surgery Trend

We are becoming more and more immune to the surprises that the celebrities have prepared or they are about to prepare for us, “normal” human beings.
Of course, we can change and modify the nose, the lips and boobs all we want, thanks to cosmetic surgery. But, did you know that now you can fiddle around with the belly button shape?
It seems like the procedure called umbilicoplasty or belly button shaping is the new hot surgical trend for this year. If you haven’t got a perfectly oval belly button like the 26-year-old model, Emily Ratajkowski you can choose to undergo umbilicoplasty. It seems like this shape of the belly button is high in demand among those individuals who want to undergo the procedure, reports Unilad.
Just imagining the procedure can make your stomach sick, right? Well, as surprising as it may sound, this procedure is not really unusual. In fact, umbilicoplasty is on the rise, with many individuals opting to change the size and shape of their belly buttons.
This procedure is usually done after pregnancy, stomach surgeries or extreme weight loss.
New York based plastic surgeon Darren Smith disclosed for Allure: “The belly button is a very important cosmetic feature of the stomach, I am seeing an increase in patient interest in belly button aesthetics.”
Usually, those who choose to change the shape of the belly button, show surgeons pictures of celebrities with admirable abdomens. Of course, the most common pictures are those of models including Victoria’s Secret models, Karolina Kurkova, Jessica Simpson.
However, the model who appeared in Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines video, Emily Ratajkowski is the muse for the “best shaped” belly button.
The holy grail of belly buttons is the one that Emily has, a hooded innie complete with a narrow vertical shape, according to Allure. Apparently, this shape of belly button gives the impression of a longer torso.
Darren Smith told Allure:
“Belly buttons that are ‘too large’ can be made smaller by removing extra belly button skin and tightening the bordering abdominal skin around the belly button. Belly buttons that are ‘too small’ are a little more difficult to deal with. But, they can potentially be improved by removing some of the surrounding abdominal skin and gently stretching the belly button tissue to reach the enlarged border caused by removing the abdominal skin.”
