Identical twins Doug and Phil Malm from Moscow, Idaho have been living under the same roof for the past 24 years with their wives Jena and Jill Lassen… who are also identical twins!
The two brothers met the two sisters at the 1991 Twin Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio
The both sets of twins attended the festival in 1990 as well, but they wouldn’t meet until a year later
In an interview with Daily Mail, Jena, now 50, describes their first meeting. “We finally came to these guys and we were like ‘Do you know anything about this red light on this camera?’ and they were like ‘No but we can help you and see what we can do,'” Jena recalls.
“Later on that evening, Jill and I were in our hotel room and we were like we have to find these gentlemen because they were neat and something was biting us and we needed to see them,” she added.
The next day, the Lassen sisters found the Malms. The four spent most of the day together and the rest is history. At the time, the brothers were 34 and sisters were 24.
They all kept in touch, but what really took their relationships to another level was a chance lottery ticket win.
When Doug’s lottery ticket won him a cruise to the Caribbean, he and Phil decided to invite the Lassen twins to come along. The bizarre thing at that point was that the brothers were not sure which one of the women they were interested in because most of their conversations had been over the phone.
“So not knowing which was Jena and not sure which I was talking to, we got to their hotel door and looked them straight in the face and told them ‘pick one and don’t be changing,'” Doug says. Several months later, the brothers proposed on stage during a twin look-a-like competition at the 1992 Twin Days.
Phil married Jena (left) and Doug married Jill (right) and they all claim the marriages wouldn’t have worked if the pairings ended up the other way round.
“Like Phil and I are the more organized twins whereas Jill and Doug are the more laid back twins. We just work really well together,” explained Jena.
To keep with tradition, the two couples married at the 1993 Twin Days
The Malms and the Lassens not only live under the same roof, but they also hang out, do activities together, work similar jobs, even dress similarly… and absolutely love their lifestyles.
“One thing about our family is that we always eat dinner together. No matter where we are at we have always sat down for dinner,” says Phil.
Doug and Jill had a daughter, Rylie, who is now 19 years old. Phil and Jena had a son, Tim, who is now 18. Even though they are technically cousins, they have always lived under the same roof as siblings.
It is believed there are currently only 250 married twin couples in the world.
