Texan Lady Is Using Her Coupon Skills To Help Suffering Families From Hurricane Harvey & Irma

The States are currently recovering from the two consecutive hurricanes, Harvey and Irma. Harvey took place first, causing serious trouble in Texas and killing 71 people. It’s also, in terms of damage caused, the third costliest hurricane of all time, costing $70 billion in damage. Shortly after, Hurricane Irma rolled up targetting Florida and wiping out most of the surrounding islands. The wind’s highest speed, in case you want to know, was around 185 miles per hour, around the same top speed as a brand new, factory fresh Ford Mustang. And consequently, Irma was the fourth costliest catastrophe in US history, racking up around $61 billion worth of damage.

Thankfully, though, Hurricane Jose seems like it won’t hit landfall, which means that people can help out those in need and get their own lives under control, and social media is making all that much easier than ever, as Kimberly Gager has proved.

Gager is quite skilled with coupons, and she’s using her skill to help out those in need, getting food and supplies for families in need and storing them in her home in San Antonio.

She’s filled her garage with stacks of diapers and wipes, baby food, and basic hygiene supplies like toothpaste and toilet paper.

Her wish to help seems to have stemmed from her own experiences. She lost her home during Hurricane Floyd in Newport, VA, in 1999, and when pictures of Harvey started circulating online, she decided that she wanted to help out.

When she saw pleas for basic baby supplies on social media, she realized there was something she could do to help, as she had tons of unused coupons for baby supplies.

“I don’t have babies, so I usually throw those away. But I can go buy this stuff for them and put it to good use,” she told ABC News.

She has helped at least 30 families ever since she started.

Her couponing skills also led to her to save a ton of cash, which she used to contribute to more and more supplies for the families in need.

Her project has also allowed others to lend a hand by donating money for her to spend on supplies.

“Keep the donations coming and I’ll keep buying diapers!!” she said on Facebook.

“Hey, I’m here, I’m real. This isn’t a joke. If you need supplies, let me know.” Kimberly told ABC News.

Massive props to Kimberly!
