Share A Slice Of This Delicious Lemon Pound Cake With Your Family

The now New Yorker runs his own YouTube channel called In The Kitchen With Jonny where he posts delicious desserts and savory dishes recipes.

The lemon pound cake with lemon glaze that we are going to see today received great comments on his YouTube channel.

But what is a pound cake?

Any cake made with a 1:1:1:1 ratio, by weight, of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar is a pound cake. Ah, know we know.

What will you need?

For the pound cake:

  • 1-1/2 cups softened butter (3 sticks)
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 5 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp pure lemon extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp lemon zest
  • 3 cups of flour (all purpose or cake flour)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sour cream

For the lemon glaze:

  • 1 cup powder sugar
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

The Process:

In a bowl of a stand mixer we are going to put our softened butter sticks and our sugar. We are going to let them mix on medium high speed. It will take 4 minutes till the butter is nice and fluffy.

Then, we are adding the eggs, slowly and one at a time. Let them blend with the mixture for a few seconds in between adding.

Next, add the sour cream, the lemon extract, the vanilla extract and the lemon zest, mix until well combined.

Once everything’s smoothly combined, we are adding the flour, the baking powder, and the salt. Mix on low speed until all the mixture and the ingredients in it are well incorporated.

That’s done!

Now, you are going to butter and flour the pan really well so your pound cake won’t stick to the walls of the pan. That would ruin it!

Once you are done doing that, add the batter in the pan and distribute it evenly. Leave it to bake for an hour in a 350 degrees Fahrenheit pre-heated oven.

In the meantime, make the lemon glaze!

Mix some powder sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl until you notice it is perfectly mixed!

As soon as your cake is done and cooled off, drizzle some lemon glaze on top, decorate it with whatever you see fit and serve!
