Did you see La La Land? Did you love it? People argue that this tribute to old Hollywood is no way worth 14 Oscar nominations, while others are simply batting their eyelashes at how romantic, and theatrical everything is. Haven’t seen it yet myself, but I kind of have an inkling that something with a Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone combination can’t be bad.
At The SAG awards people seem to agree with me, because Emma received an award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for La La Land on Sunday, January 29.
But Ryan Gosling’s reaction, you guys!
She was visibly at a loss for words as the countdown clock began to tick. “Wow, um, to be an actor, playing an actor, receiving an [award] by a guild of actors, it’s pretty exceptional,” Stone said, laughing. “Oh, it’s counting me down. OK. Um, I forgot everything that I ever have thought in my life.”
Thirty-six-year-old Gosling, seated next to power couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen was watching his colleague as she accepted the award.
“Ryan,” she began, “you’re the best. That’s just the truth. No one can argue it,” she said as Gosling (also her co-star in Crazy Stupid Love and Gangster Squad) tried to contain laughter and covered his face. Oh, Ryan, you know it, stop.
She needed to hurry and wrap it up. “I was just going to say that I feel insecure a lot of the time, genuinely. Feeling like I could deserve anything like this award requires a little bit of mental gymnastics for me. … God, I know I have to wrap up. I feel like I’m going to faint.”
Watch it here, it’s way too cute.
