If you have an old soul then you will be amazed by the delightfully old-fashioned work of Moscow-based artist named Elena Limkina. Every week, she offers the world a glimpse into her personal sketchbook and its pages always tell vivid stories of nature, classical paintings and architecture.
Even though Limkina specializes in watercolour materials and is very handy with a dip pen, she uses both to bring shadows and lumniosity to botanical and scientific illustrations.
“I have been painting since childhood,” she writes on her official website. “I’ve been studying medical engineering, but my passion for fine arts has taken precedence.”
Baroque, Renaissance and a touch of modernism, have influenced her artwork and her flower paintings wouldn’t look out of place in the portfolio of Gerorgia O’Keefe.
Below you can see some of our favorite pages from Elena Limkina’s sublime sketchbook and let us know which one you would frame on your wall.
