Keeping up with the Kardashians is hardly what anyone would call “high quality television,” but it’s nothing if not entertaining. Sure, there are serious moments and also really emotional ones, but most of the time it’s sheer hilarity and that is why millions of people keep tuning in week in week out.
Love ’em or hate ’em, the fact is they are beautiful, rich, they’ve traveled all over the world and they have seen and done things we’ll probably never be able to do in real life. Maybe they are not rocket scientists, but they can sometimes surprise us with the sensible things they say…
1. Sometimes you just have to leave things to a higher power
Somethings are not worth worrying over, so just “Let go and let God,” as Kim says. If there’s nothing you can do about it, what is the point in worrying?
So just calm down, relax, and let the situation resolve itself.
2. Be nice and relax
Say what you think, but don’t be rude. According to Kim, things should be dealt with in a mature and collected manner. Play nice, people!
Don’t be a drama queen and keep in mind that your time is precious, so don’t waste it on silly things.
3. Keep it real
Stay true to yourself. Don’t try to be something you’re not. As Khloe says, basically, to keep things real.
However, you should still be polite, because the fact that your true self is an obnoxious d*** doesn’t mean you can get away with hurting people.
4. Haters gonna hate
If someone says mean things about you, just ignore them. Don’t even waste your breath. It’s not worth it. You don’t need that kind of negativity! Don’t let what people think about you bring you down.
After all, haters gonna hate, hate, hate. Great, now I have that Taylor Swift song stuck in my head…
5. Be unique!
When you respect and admire someone, it’s only natural to start doing things to be more like them. And it’s okay to learn things from other people, but be careful to not lose yourself. Being unique is very important, says Kylie. So don’t pretend to be someone you are not!
Love yourself, so other people can love you too.
6. Appreciate your youth
Khloe tells us, that we won’t be young forever. So, we should appreciate it while it lasts. Don’t take it for granted. Once you are in your thirties, things will never be the same again.
Every kid and teenager just can’t wait to be an adult. It’s not as glamourous as it seems, people!
7. Call things by their name
Always tell the truth. Lying only ever serves to hurt people. Don’t be like those people who cheated on you and deceived you, because you know what it feels like to be on the receiving end.
Kourtney teaches us to call a spade a spade. And don’t you go wasting your time with people who don’t!
8. Family comes first
No matter how much they get on your nerves, or how much you claim to hate them, the truth is you always love your family. There is nothing in the world that is more important.
Kanye may be a businessman and he may say and do stupid things, but when it comes to family, he makes sure to spend as much time as he possibly can with them, and his love for them is obvious.
9. Every moment counts
Every single moment of your life is special, says Kim. And her advice is to document it, no matter if it’s just the simple pleasure of consuming food. Take a picture; that at least is simple in today’s world.
Don’t rush, slow down. Enjoy every moment as if it were your last.
10. Take a break
Of course you need to work hard to achieve your dreams, but don’t let that stop you from taking a well-deserved break, Kendall says. Take a breather and then get back to work with renewed vigour.
Don’t be lazy, work hard, do a job well, and good things will follow.
11. Don’t measure your inner happiness on the scale
Don’t let a number on the weighing scale put you in a bad mood. We are all beautiful, in all shapes and sizes. Kourtney suggests that our weight is not how we should measure our happiness.
Maybe it’s a cliché, but it’s true: it’s what’s on the inside that counts. As long as you are happy and healthy, who cares what the scale says?
12. You can be single and happy
Relationships don’t always have happy, fairytale endings. Sometimes they end badly, like Khloe’s marriage, but you should always hold your head high and not let anything drag you down.
It’s hard deaing with loss and marriage is one of those things that you expect will last forever. But if it wasn’t meant to be, you need to know that eventually you will get better, because time heals all wounds.
13. It requires hard work to shine
Kendall teaches us that appearances can be deceiving. While her glamourous super model looks make her seem perfect, she says reality is completely different.
More or less, everyone suffers from confidence issues. People often get self-conscious and doubt themselves. It’s not easy, but believe in yourself, you can do anything you put your mind to!
14. Be comfortable in your skin
Scott advises us to be comfortable in our skin. Be yourself, no matter what anybody says. Don’t let haters hurt you, they’re not worth a second of your attention.
Take good care of yourself, be confident, be positive, be kind to others, be happy. Nothing else matters.
Kourtney tell us that her motto is “you only live once.” So experience life to the fullest. Cherish every moment of it!
Don’t let life bring you down. Even when bad thing happen, stay positive! Be open to possibilities – try a new thing every day. Who knows what surprise awaits just around the corner.
16. Breaking-up is not easy
Everyone has experienced a bad break up. Even Kim. And it hurts, and it sucks, and you hate every moment of it. But take it as a learning experience. Hard times shape us into the people we are. It easy to be generous when we are happy, but the challenge is to be kind even when things aren’t looking well.
Take your time to recover. And try to take the positives of the relationship with you and remember the moments that really meant something.
17. Don’t mind the body shamers
You can achieve the perfect body you’ve always dreamt of by working hard and being disciplined. Khloe is the perfect example of that.
But, she is also the one to point out that no-one has the right to comment about another person’s body. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about yourself.
