A 19-year-old teenager named Jingyi Wang was arrested on Friday for performing unlicensed plastic surgery out of her basement in the Bayview Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area in Toronto. She went with the pseudonym “Dr.Kitty,” according to Toronto Police.
This might seem like a horror story, but according to the police it happened for real. The teenager had only graduated high school and wasn’t trained for the procedures that she was performing on people.
The Canadian girl’s services were advertised via flyers in April at a restaurant north of Toronto. The police says that there was also a barcode to scan with a smartphone to see more detailed information.
A woman that saw the ad, decided to do “face-slimming injections,” which was one of the procedures that Wang offered. She returned for more injections in her basement. After some weeks, the patient was left needing medical help after getting infected by the operation.
A Toronto police spokesperson named Allyson Douglas-Cook said for Toronto Star, “It’s quite discreet how it is, so there’s a possibility that there may be others and a very high likelihood that there may have been others who would have responded to this ad and sought the services of this person.”
“Who knows how many other establishments this ad is placed in?” said Douglas-Cook.
We thought that every advertised medical procedure that involves a basement would be a big no from everyone, but that’s just us.
