Do you remember the Fierce Five from the 2012 Olympics? If not, they were an amazing group of gymnasts who represented The United States of America in the Olympics.

One of those gymnasts was McKayla Maroney, who won the silver medal. She also became an Internet sensation, but
the reason why might surprise you.

When McKayla won the silver medal, she had a ‘not impressed’ expression on her face.
People thought it was funny and turned it into a meme.

She even thought it was funny, and she got President Obama to do the face with her.

She was 16 back then, and since then, her journey has taken a detour to a new and exciting direction.

Here she is with her team back in 2012.

And here she is making the unimpressed face due to her winning the silver medal.
As a team, she won gold, and a silver as an individual, which led to her making this face.

McKayla was also a member of the gold-winning Team America in the 2011 World Championships where she won
gold medals in the vault and team competitions.

Sadly, due to receiving multiple injuries, her career was put on hiatus after she was told by doctors that she needed knee surgery.
She was willing to push through the pain until her injuries forced her to retire in 2016.

So now, she has an exciting new career path ready to go: a long-awaited-for music career.
She’s now 20 years old and she looks amazing, and seems to be enjoying herself and her new goals.
