Remember Pokemon Go? Everyone was going crazy for it last summer and it died after about two weeks? Yeah, that one.
Well, the creators aren’t ready for the Go game format to die yet, as they have just announced they have a Harry Potter Go game in the works. Seriously.
Niantic Labs recently announced their up-incoming game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite which is said to use the same augmented reality gameplay like Pokemon Go.
Co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive and its new sub-brand Portkey Games, HP:WU should be out sometime next year, TechCrunch reports.
Before this announcement, there was a lot of hub-bub going around that Niantic Labs were working on an AR game that was based on the JK Rowling universe, but it is now officially confirmed.
It is unclear at this time what the core gameplay aspect of Wizards Unite will be, but it’s safe to assume that it will be very similar to Pokemon Go.
Personally, I never understood the appeal of the original Pokemon Go, which came out in 2016, even though I did give it a shot, but I’m still somewhat curious to see what they’ll come up with for this new Harry Potter game.
Will you be trying out Harry Potter: Wizards Unite when it launches next year? Let us know in the comments!
