So guys, would it really be an award show without some shady moments? I don’t think so especially when talking about the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards that never fails in hosting buzzy celebrities for airing out their frustrations with each other. That’s a fact.

Scroll down to see a list of the celebrities who did just that.

KATY PERRY

Targets: Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift (maybe)

Can we really call this a shade? While trying to catch up GoT fans with the award show, the VMAs host listed Ed Sheeran’s friends “dead” as an evening highlight. Some users on Twitter though that the comment was in reference to Sheeran’s friend Taylor Swift’s new video where she contains the dialogue: “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now” … “‘Cause she’s dead.”

But Katy could’ve referenced the comment with Lil Uzi Vert for “XO TOUR Llif3,” where the lyrics is, “All my friends are dead.”

When then it came to Justin Bieber, she made a quick quip on the singer’s “Despacito” remix in which he forgot the Spanish lyrics during a concert. “My baby knows the lyrics to ‘Despacito’ unlike some other babies I know,” she said, addressing DJ Khaled’s adorable son, Asahd.

ADAM LEVINE

Target: Lorde

After new artist finalist Julia Michael kicked off her performance with the song “Issues,” MTV dropped the sound and began announcing some upcoming show highlights before cutting to commercial via voiceover. Seems like Adam Levine was not happy about it.

“Julia Michaels gets cut off while she’s singing and Lorde gets to NOT sing her whole song,” the Maroon 5 frontman tweeted of the awards.

FIFTH HARMONY
Target: Camila Cabello

Five members of Fifth Harmony took the stage before performing their song “Down,” but that number turned to four quickly after the fifth member was thrown off stage. Twitter immediately noticed that it was a diss to Camila Cabello who left the group to start her own solo career.

Target: Katy Perry (maybe)

So, Taylor Swift’s friend and collaborator was just casually eating a banana during Katy Perry’s intro at the VMAs. His girlfriend, Lena Dunham tweeted: “My boyfriend just casually eating a banana at the VMAs is a good reminder of why we’ve been at it half a decade.”

Target: Herself

Taylor Swift just premiered her “Look What You Made Me Do,” music video at the awards ceremony where she makes digs at Kanye West with her lyrics. The last minute of her video she also makes fun at her reputation with cloned versions of “The Old Taylor” during the years.
