All animal lovers rejoice, as you can now finally get inside a McDonalds’s! In Tampere, Finland, the fast food giant is finally launching a month-long trial of the McVegan sandwich! Although this is currently the only location trying out a vegan menu item, it will hopefully come to the rest of the world, too. So what is it all about and is it any good?
The announcement was made when growing numbers of a new generation of health and animal-rights-conscious consumers voiced concerns about a lack of veggie products ahead of their meat, egg and dairy ingredients.
For all the vegans and the rest non-meat lovers, the burger itself is made from a very special blend of 100% vegetarian-based hamburger, fresh slices of tomato, lettuce, pickles, and a brand new vegan McFeast sauce. The media also asked customers who have tried it, to give their reviews. The test launch in Finland is said to run from October 4th to the end of November.
There was also a debate on the validity of the french fries, but a spokesperson for the McDonald’s marketing in Finland said: “Yes, they are made here in Finland from potatoes and baked in vegetable oil. The fries are completely vegan.”
All this comes after McDonald’s saw a large dip in sales because of health-conscious people. Then, the corporation came up with introducing new salads and healthier menu options, the success of which is yet to be seen.
Obviously a new direction for the fast-food chain, but Finnish locals have been quick to share pictures of the newest product.
There is no word yet on when the new McVegan will launch internationally, or come to North America, but if sales in Finland end up being promising, we may also get to taste the burger.
