One couple has made traveling and blogging about it their life, while making a living out of it. Mancunian Jack Morris met and fell in love with Australian Lauren Bullen in 2016; ever since, they have been traveling around the world together and have amassed hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers. In turn, their social media influentiality have brought numerous brands and organizations who are ready to pay serious money for a sponsored shot to their doorstep.
Jack, who used to work as a carpet cleaner in Manchester before traveling and living out of his backpack between 2012 and 2016, and New South Wales native Lauren moved to Bali, Indonesia when they decided they wanted to live together. They now have more than 3,6 million Instagram followers combined and alternate between crisscrossing the globe and their Bali base.
Although they have been paid up to $12,000 per shot and say they wouldn’t work for less than $3,000, which allows them to do what they love most, they are adamant they never work for brands they wouldn’t wear themselves, or for organizations they wouldn’t help for free.
In a Q&A recently posted to his official website, DoYouTravel, Jack shared a few tips that helped propel him and Lauren to online fame.
“I edit all my photos in the same kind of style with my own lightroom presets,” Jack said. He reveals he never uses filters which in turn makes all his snaps have the similar feel and atmosphere to them. When planning his next photograph, Jack always takes into consideration how it would fit in with the rest of his portfolio. And crucially, he strongly recommends shooting one hour after sunrise, as even the busiest locations tend to be deserted at that time, while the natural light is usually ideal.
