There were times when many of you thought Kim Kardashian is perfect. In some ways, like having her unique style, she is, but she also deals with health issues just like everybody else on this planet. The 36-year-old has been battling psoriasis since 2010, when she was diagnosed with the disease. The Meriam-Webster dictionary describes psoriasis as a “chronic skin disease characterized by circumscribed red patches covered with white scales.” On Tuesday, October 17, the mother-of-two shared some of her odd ways of combating the autoimmune disease via her app.
While the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has now ‘accepted’ living with psoriasis, it hasn’t been an easy path.
Kim Kardashian revealed the psoriasis patches on her legs and admitted she once tried her sister Kourtney’s breast milk in an attempt to treat the incurable condition.
“After having had it for over seven years, I feel like I’ve accepted it, but there are still times when I can feel insecure about it,” Kim wrote.
The Californian also said that her mother Kris Jenner, 61, also has the hereditary disease “so she’s helped me learn how to live with and treat it”.
The star continued: “I’ve tried some basic treatment methods, but I’m always open to trying new things. One time, I even tried using Kourt’s breast milk, lol! Things I’ve tried that do help are following a low-acid diet, cortisone shots and topical cortisone creams.”

Other methods that may sound a bit wacky also turned out to be helpful for her. Kim revealed: “A newer treatment that I’ve started is using seaweed-based beauty products”
“As a skincare ingredient, seaweed has amazing anti-inflammatory properties. It is also extremely high in moisture, which is great for those suffering from psoriasis, as the disease tends to dry out the skin. Seaweed is so soothing, too. I use it to treat spots that are especially irritating, red or flakey,” she added.
The 36-year-old businesswoman revealed that her autoimmune disease worsened in the aftermath of the gunpoint jewelry robbery in Paris, which happened in October last year. The reality star told her Twitter followers she was getting psoriasis on her face, probably due to stress.
Psoriasis can indeed be worsened by environmental triggers such as stress. Sticking to a strict diet is one of her best ways of keeping the disease under control. The star also applies cortisone cream to her itchy skin every night and sometimes gets cortisone injections, too.
Kim shares daughter North, four, and son Reign, who will be two in December, with husband Kanye West, 40. They recently revealed that they’re expecting their third child with the help of a surrogate mother.
