Remember Gossip Girl? After debuting on The CW television network in 2007, it started to make headlines everywhere. It’s been nearly 5 years since the show ended and the Gossip Girl revealed her true identity, and since this is one of the most successful TV shows of the 21st century (earning 18 awards during its life), let’s take a look at what all the original actors have been up to since the show had ended.
1. Blake Lively
Otherwise known as Serena van der Woodsen in the show, the 29-year-old is a busy girl. She’s married to Ryan Reynolds and is a mom to two baby girls, and her acting career has only heated up since then.
2. Leighton Meester
Also known as Blair Waldorf, she has appeared in a few movies alongside GG, such as the 2014 indie release Life Partners, where she starred alongside her husband. Mostly, the 31-year-old had been focusing on her music career, appearing alongside Robin Thicke in his 2009 song “Somebody to Love”, but she returned to the silver screen to appear in Making History.
3. Penn Badgley
The 30-year-old achieved critical success appearing as singer Jeff Buckley in the 2012 release Greetings from Tim Buckley, and after a period of silence, he picked up again with the film Cymbeline and performed with his band, Mothxr. He also married Domino Kirke this year in a small courthouse ceremony.
3. Ed Westwick
Also known as Chuck Bass, he kept quiet some time after the show, but that has changed since. The 30-year-old British actor has returned in 2017 in Snatch and White Gold and has reported that he is uninterested in appearing in a reboot of GG if there ever was one “It feels like we only just finished!” he told the Radio Times. “And I haven’t done enough in between yet to feel like I could comfortable revisit it. And I did so much with that character — it’s played out, man. It’s done.”
4. Chace Crawford
Also known as Nate Archibald, his career wasn’t going at a very steady pace, but in 2014 he was the executive producer and took up the role as the character Arthur Barone in the baseball film Undrafted, and scored a leading role in the 2015 release Blood & Oil as the unfortunately named Billy LaFever.
5. Taylor Momsen
She left as a season regular in 2010, just so she can focus on her band, The Pretty Reckless. They have had some mild success since their debut albums in 2010, I’m going to guess it’s because she flashes her fans during concerts.
6. Jessica Szohr
She has gotten a few roles since Vanessa Abrams in GG, appearing in The Internship, and in the 2014 Hallmark original Lucky in Love.
7. Connor Paolo
Also known as Eric van der Woodsen, he started appearing less on the show after landing the role of Declan in 2011’s Revenge, and after his character was killed off in season 2, the ABC drama show just wasn’t the same without him. Let’s hope that he will come back soon.
8. Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle
They have gone through quite a bit of marital struggles ever since playing the reunited lovers on the show, and their troubles only seem to have brought them closer together. They maintained their professional relationship, appearing in the 2013 direct-to-TV movie A Sister’s Nightmare.
9. Kristen Bell
Arguably the most important actress of the entire series, as she was the (uncredited) voice of Gossip Girl, providing narration for each episode, and since her GG appearance, her acting career and success have skyrocketed. The 36-year-old is now a married mom of two, notably starring in NBC’s The Good Place and in Disney’s Frozen as Princess Anna.
