Look at this floor carefully. You can clearly see a big hole on the right side, can’t you? Well, you’ve been duped by an illusion, because there’s no hole. The floor is perfectly flat and it was designed to stop you from running down the hallway of a showroom for Casa Ceramica, a tile company from Manchester, UK.
No one explained why people are dashing into their showrooms instead of walking. Maybe their tiles are that good, and maybe the floor was designed to trip out employees running late. Whatever the case, it’s pretty unique and looks really cool.
Duncan Cook, the director of Casa Ceramica, first posted a video of an employee navigating the “crooked” floor. He then followed it up with a demonstration that it is all in your mind, by having the guy walk over the “hole” and even spice it up with a little dab in the end.
A representative of the company, talking to INSIDER, said that “the inspiration was to create an entrance themed on illusions and exceed expectations of how tiles can be used.” The illusion only works in one direction though, so you will only be fooled on the way in, but not on the way out. Duncan also said that it was more noticeable on camera, tweeting: “It doesn’t look as bad to the human eye, only really comes to life through the camera.”
Below you have some more pics of the floor so, let us know what you think of it in the comments.
