These Dolls That Have Vitiligo Represent A Big Step Forward For Inclusivity

What makes a person so amazing? Being different from everyone else. You might not see it but you really are, and embracing what makes you unique will help you always shine. But, sometimes embracing your differences can be a little hard. Winnie Harlow is a uniquely gorgeous  model and also has a rare skin condition called vitiligo.

Vitiligo occurs when the cells produce melanin, the pigment that gives hair and skin it’s color, dies or stops functioning. Then, as a result, blotches of skin on different parts of the body start to lose their coloring.

Winnie is now a popular and very successful model but she said that she did experience self-esteem issues from her skin condition. She is very happy that has grown to be comfortable in her own skin and as beautiful as it is, it’s self confidence that makes her really shine.

She has also been the inspiration behind a doll brand named Kay Customz that aims to teach kids that beauty comes in different shades. You can buy dolls that have freckles or albinism. The vitiligo dolls were recently released and as you can see down below, they’re amazing.

The doll below has the African continent on her face and it’s so beautiful.

The best part is, as the name suggests, that they even take custom doll requests. You can have a doll that is as unique and beautiful as you are. Isn’t this so awesome?
