22 years ago, after being unable to conceive children, Sherry Blackledge and her husband adopted a little girl. They named her Brooke, and this was 1 year after adopting their son, Brian.
When Brooke was only 18 months old, Sherry wrote a letter while she watched Brooke as she slept in her crib — a letter that she would give Brooke to read on her wedding day.
Sherry had the letter for Brooke printed on a piece of the very wedding dress she was married in. For twenty years the note remained hidden in Sherry’s nightstand with Brooke unaware of its existence.
The letter reads:
“Our Dear Little Baby Brooke,
As I write this you are sleeping soundly in your baby bed. You are 18 months old. We just want you to know how very much love and happiness you have brought to us. You have made us a truly great family. A little precious baby girl to me and Daddy and a baby sister to Brian.
Before me and Daddy married we always said we wanted a little boy and a little girl. When we were dating, we said if we had a little girl she would be a little Brooke. You are our little Baby Brooke.
Brooke, we just want you to know that you are very special to us and that God picked you extra special and he sent you to Mommy, Daddy and Brian.
We love you. Mommy and Daddy.”
In 2015, Brooke’s big day finally arrived. In an emotion-packed video created by The Film Poets, they reveal the secret to Brooke as she gets to read her the letter her mother wrote two decades ago for the very first time while wearing her beautiful wedding dress.
Watch Brooke’s reaction to her parents’ love and emotions will sweep you.
