This Bride Diagnosed With Alopecia Embraces Her Baldness On Her Wedding Day

Losing a part of your body is like losing a part of your identity. Losing a part of who you once were is not easy, and it is quite a hard process to deal with the new reality. Imagine losing something and having to deal with it on your most important day. That’s what happened to the 27-year-old model and motivational speaker Kylie Bamberger. She lost her hair forever and bravely rejected wearing a wig to cover her loss on the day of her wedding.

Being a bride involves taking all kinds of transformations to make this day perfect. For this lady, it was embracing who you truly are and giving yourself a break from what brides are supposed to wear or do.

As a model, Kylie was once a person focused on her looks and how it affected other people. When the Los Angeles native was 12, she began losing her hair, and by 15, she didn’t have enough of it to put in a ponytail — think back to when you were a teenager and imagine how horrifying something like this would have been at that point in your life.

When the 27-year-old from Los Angeles was 12, she began losing her hair. It was such a painful process, but there was nothing she could do about it.

Doctors diagnosed Kylie with alopecia, which is an autoimmune disease that causes complete hair loss over the course of time. Her first reaction was fear and anger. She started covering herself with wigs and beanies, but then something amazing happened.

She accepted herself the way she is.

Her baldness was now a big part of who she was. There were no more reasons to hide it.

Kylie explains on social media: “When I lost my hair, I was so focused on what I had lost that I hadn’t necessarily focused on what I had gained. I gained the ability to finally love myself.”

She completely shaved her head back in 2005, and when her wedding day was coming, she knew she wouldn’t say “I do” wearing a wig. Kylie has not only become stronger, but she also enjoys being different.

Kylie got married in October of 2016 and as you can see in the photos, she looks absolutely beautiful.
