9-Year-Old Boy Gives A Police Officer A Heartwarming Note At A Restaurant

note

It’s a well known fact that every child in the world has an idol. Not necessarily a famous person, but rather someone who wants to become a better person. Almost every kid can easily answer the question: “What do you want to be when you grow up”? They have their answer prepared, together with an explanation why and what motivated them. Kids would love to have the chance to meet their idol in person.

Meet nine-year-old Noah, who wants to become a police officer when he grows up. One day, the boy was having breakfast with his mom at Denny’s, when he noticed a police officer sitting on a table close to them. He immediately became anxious and wanted to do something but, he wasn’t sure what exactly. So, the boy came up with a plan. He asked his mom if he could go and say hi to the police officer, whose name is Eddie Benitez. And of course, his mom agreed. But, as Noah approached Eddie, he realized that no words would come out of his mouth since he became even more nervous and shy. The persistent boy didn’t want to lose the opportunity so he prepared another plan. This one most definitely won’t leave the policeman indifferent. Seeing the boy coming towards him, at first, the police officer was confused, but it didn’t take him long to realize what was going on.

Noah decided to use his birthday savings so he can pay for Eddie’s breakfast. Amanda, the boy’s mother call the waitress and shared the plan with her. Having paid for Eddie’s breakfast, Noah wrote a short message on the receipt. After reading the boy’s short note on the receipt, the police officer made sure to take a photo with his young fan.

Noah’s note on the receipt read: “I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service, Noah.”

The thrilled officer was so moved by the boy’s gesture that he is carrying his note with him every day.

He shared the story with 10 News: “It meant everything. It meant that I’m supposed to wake up every morning and put on his uniform and go out there and do what I do. You know? It means that I need to keep trying to be a good example to all these young guys.”

And that’s not all. The Lakeland Police Department where Eddie works shared the heart-melting and touching story on their Facebook page. The proud boy disclosed that after this reaction to the lovely gesture his desire to become a police officer is bigger than ever.
