A Beauty And The Beast Belle Doll Released By Disney Shocks Fans With Its Justin Bieber Head

14-45

The new Beauty and the Beast has been in movie theaters for a couple of months now, raking in over a billion dollars in profits so far, but one bizarre event of the film’s pre-release promotion has been largely overlooked by fans. Namely, in the run-up to the 17th of March release, the Disney Store released a Belle collection doll which was supposed to be modeled according to Emma Watson’s appearance in the motion picture. Except that it wasn’t. To make matters worse, fans noticed quite a resemblance between the toy and Canadian pop star Justin Bieber!

Emma Watson was cast as Belle in January 2015. She was the first choice of Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan F. Horn, who knew Watson’s Harry Potter work in depth from his days in Warner Bros.

It was then up to Filipino-American artist Noel Cruz who is known for repainting celebrity and movie character dolls to work his magic and make the toy more Belle-like.

The artist also paired the new head on another body to make the doll appear more lifelike

Explaining his working process, he said he always begins with the hair. “Hairstyling is a very arduous process. Depending on the style, it may be cut first, then small curlers are set into the hair, which gives it a perm. The next step is the removal of the factory paint with a fine tipped cotton bud,” Cruz told the DailyMail.

The Filipino-American then outlines facial features in free-hand style using a photograph of the person he’s painting.

“I typically paint the eyes first and then continue on until the doll is complete,” he revealed.
