Australian Couple Surprised To Become The Owners Of The Longest Cat In The World


If you’ve always wanted cats to be a bit bigger like some dogs, you will be envious of this Melbourn lady who turns out to be the luckiest cat owner. Cat owner Stephy Hirst from Australia always thought her kitty Omar was a big fellow, but it wasn’t until she last measured him that she realized it. Omar the cat measures in at a staggering 120 centimeters and 14 kilograms, and is on the verge of worldwide fame.

Omar could become the new longest cat alive. The current longest cat title belongs to a kitty in the UK, who measures in at 118.3cm, but the official record process for Omar has begun. He is about to break the Guinness World Record.

Stephy Hirst from Australia always thought her kitty Omar was very special. He was a tiny kitty at first, but then he just started growing and was at 22 lbs when he was just one year old.


Today Omar is around 3.93 ft long weighing 30.86 lbs


After the kitty’s picture was shared on Cats Of Instagram, Omar became famous.


Recently Guinness,  contacted her saying he might be the longest cat in the world.

“We thought he might be (the longest cat in the world) but we hadn’t done anything about it…”, says Stephy.


Omar does not seem to enjoy his fame, though. He keeps reserved and wants to continue his normal life.


So, he still keeps his daily routine, which includes waking up at 5 am.


Also, he enjoys eating kibbl, napping outside, and enjoying some raw kangaroo meat for dinner.


“He sleeps on the couch… because he takes up too much room on the bed”, says Stephy.


She adds: “And he demands we cuddle and pet him all through the night”.
