Ever been to California? Or perhaps you live there? Well, if you’re planning to take a stroll through the streets of Redwood City, then you might encounter some pretty strange and whimsical looking shadows on the floor.
Well, that’s all the work of artist Damon Belanger, a graphic artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area that was commissioned to draw 20 fake shadows in the downtown area of the northern Californian city. From a monstrous screaming mailbox to a monkey on a lamp post, there are some truly great pieces of work that gives new life to seemingly boring-looking items on the street.
Let’s take a look at the highlights!
1. Flower bike parking
2. Angry mailbox monster
3. Park bench doggo
Oh, and a decapitating character for good measure.
4. Little robotic stickfigures
5. Here’s the mailbox again
Piranha mailbox? That’s what it looks like to me. Kinda cute but could probably still eat me.
6. Monkey on a post
7. Mine cart ride on a fence
Looks like a lot of fun
8. Here’s the doggy once again
Damon’s art style is very unique!
9. And here’s another monkey
He probably won’t have to pay parking though.
10. Another mine cart ride
One of those that requires two pumping hands to move.
11. A very cartoony snake
12. An evil dog with wheels for legs
This looks a little bit… unique.
13. This is Damon
Caught in the act of drawing the shadows.
