Scars, stretch marks and also menstruation are things that women are routinely told to hide. But this Barcelona-based artist is turning these “flaws” into beautiful ways to appreciate the female body. The 21-year-old Cinta Tort Cartró goes by the pen name Zinteta on social media and creates beauty through rainbow paint, glitter and neon.
Her colorful depictions of stretch marks, period blood and the female body aim to foster self-love in the hearts of the girls who feel ashamed of their bodies. Her creative awakening was inspired by her own difficult path to self-love and this is exactly what makes the message of her work even more powerful.
“Stretch marks are part of our essence, our moments, our lives, our stories and us,” Cartró writes on Instagram. “To accept all this is to accept your roots, your history, everything in it and, after all, accept yourself.”
