Just recently, Angelina Jolie revealed what life has been like for her and the family since splitting from ex-husband Brad Pitt. She also included her latest health problem too.
The actress said that since filing for divorce she has been focused on looking after her health and six children.Read more about her difficult year here.
Speaking to Vanity Fair about her health, Jolie said:
“Sometimes women in families put themselves last… until it manifests itself in their own health.”
The 42-year-old developed Bell’s Palsy in addition to high blood pressure, which is a condition resulting from damage to facial nerves and causes one side of her face to droop.
Over the past few years, we saw Jolie suffering from a number of health problems. In 2015 she underwent a hysterectomy and a double mastectomy in 2013 after learning that she carries a gene mutation that puts her at risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
Jolie also admits that “things got bad” in the summer of 2016 just when her latest film First They Killed My Father was in post production.
Angelina said that even though “things got difficult” the couples celebrity lifestyle with their children wasn’t “in any way negative:
“That was not the problem.
“That is and will remain one of the wonderful opportunities we are able to give our children.
“They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals – I’m very proud of them.”
Jolie praised her children Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, Vivienne, 9 and Knox, 9, for being brave during their parent’s divorce process.
While negotiations between the couple are still ongoing, Jolie said that as a family, she and the children are still trying to recover.
“We’re all just healing from the events that led to the filing.
“They’re not healing from divorce. They’re healing from some… from life, from things in life.”
“I do not want my children to be worried about me.
“I think it’s very important to cry in the shower and not in front of them.
“They need to know that everything’s going to be all right even when you’re not sure it is.”
As for Bell’s palsy, it is a condition that causes temporary weakness and also paralysis of the muscle in one side of the face.
