Talent shows are always fun to watch. They’re good at showcasing what actually lies beneath perfectly ordinary looking kids and adults that live among us. One of them may be a skillful, graceful magician, another one may be a goosebump-inducing singer, and another one may be a gravity-defying dancer.
Whatever talents people have, and no matter how many times we’ve seen them, it’s always fun to see them perform and (not always) amaze the judges with what they do.
But, tell me, have you ever seen a little girl that takes bedtime songs and puts a country twist on them? Well that’s exactly what Kadie Roberson did.
The 13-year-old passionate singer from Kemp, Texas, appeared on the 11th season of America’s Got Talent, that took place between May and September of 2016.
Her story is as deep as her performance. She was adopted by her now mom and dad when they were still in her 50s, but the mom immediately bonded to her as soon as she picked her up.
Not only she has an incredibly powerful voice, she also completely aces the guitar and writing songs in general.
I mean, just close your eyes and listen to her, she sounds like a much older person, doesn’t she?
She certainly has a mighty voice, and you know you have a good talent when even Simon Cowell is impressed.
Howie Mandel noted her age during his supportive critique. “You’re twelve! What do you know about love? But, if I was listening to that on the radio, it sounded like you really knew about love…”
In response to her stunning performance, Cowell said, “You know, when we make these shows, it’s a bit like we’re mining for talent—and you dig, you dig. And, every so often you find a diamond, and that’s who we found today with you.” He went on to say, “I have a feeling—and I’m rarely wrong—that in a few years’ time we’re going to look back to this moment and say, ‘This is the day that we discovered Kadie Lynn.’”
America’s Got Talent has had a history of giving a platform to country artists. In 2009, country crooner Kevin Skinner swept away the competition when he was announced as the winner of show’s fourth season.
